About The Position

Paulson-Cheek Mechanical, Inc. (PCM) is a commercial mechanical contractor serving clients throughout the Southeast. We are committed to delivering high-quality mechanical solutions through experienced professionals, strong teamwork, and a focus on safety and customer service. We are seeking an experienced Commercial HVAC Service Technician to join our Existing Building Services team. The Commercial HVAC Service Technician will be responsible for the maintenance, service, troubleshooting, and repair of existing commercial HVAC systems. This position requires an experienced service technician who can diagnose equipment issues, perform repairs and preventive maintenance, and communicate effectively with customers and team members. The position will also support construction startup, commissioning, and warranty work as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of commercial HVAC service technician experience.
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing commercial HVAC systems.
  • Knowledge of hydronic systems, DX refrigeration, VRF systems, cooling towers, and Building Management Systems (BMS).
  • Proficiency with HVAC diagnostic and service tools, including ohmmeters, pressure gauges, acetylene torches, vacuum pumps, refrigerant recovery equipment, micron gauges, and leak detectors.
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and other technical information.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members.
  • Ability to participate in on-call and emergency service assignments.
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with chillers and boilers.
  • Experience with commercial HVAC startup and commissioning.
  • Experience performing warranty service work.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and troubleshoot commercial HVAC systems and components.
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Diagnose and repair commercial HVAC systems and equipment.
  • Perform construction startup and commissioning work as required.
  • Perform warranty-related service and repair work.
  • Handle on-call and emergency service assignments.
  • Document all work performed, including service details, labor hours, and parts used or required.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with customers, providing technical information and support as needed.
  • Collaborate with fellow technicians and team members on complex repairs.
  • Provide mentorship and training to apprentices and junior technicians as appropriate.
  • Follow company safety procedures and applicable technical standards.
