About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Commercial HVAC Service Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical instincts, a safety-first mindset, and a proven ability to deliver high-quality service. This role involves handling complex diagnostics, repairs, preventative maintenance, and system optimization for large commercial and industrial facilities. You will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing large tonnage chillers, troubleshooting and programming DDC/BAS building controls systems, and commissioning new systems. The position requires the ability to work independently, interpret technical documents, and maintain accurate service records. Excellent communication skills are essential for interacting with customers and mentoring junior technicians.

Requirements

  • Active TDLR HVAC Journeyman License (Texas)
  • EPA 608 Universal Certification
  • 5 or more years of commercial HVAC experience with significant exposure to heavy chiller systems
  • Demonstrated experience with BAS/DDC controls platforms
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting capability across both low and high voltage systems
  • Comfortable working independently with limited oversight
  • Valid Texas driver's license in good standing
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and operate in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and confined spaces

Responsibilities

  • Handle complex diagnostics, repairs, preventative maintenance, and system optimization across large commercial and industrial facilities.
  • Diagnose and repair large tonnage chillers — air-cooled and water-cooled — including centrifugal, screw, and scroll configurations.
  • Troubleshoot and program DDC/BAS building controls systems at an advanced level.
  • Commission and start up chiller and controls systems, optimizing for peak efficiency.
  • Identify and resolve electrical, mechanical, and controls-related issues.
  • Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance on chillers, cooling towers, pumps, boilers, and supporting equipment.
  • Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and control schematics.
  • Keep accurate, timely documentation of all service work, repairs, and recommendations.
  • Communicate clearly with customers about system conditions, findings, and next steps.
  • Adhere to all safety requirements, EPA standards, and internal company policies.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to apprentices and junior technicians when applicable.
