About The Position

Riddleberger Brothers, Inc. is seeking to hire a talented and growth-minded individual to join our team as a Commercial HVAC Service Technician Level 2. We offer career opportunities that allow you to be part of a team and grow as an individual. We are a full-service plumbing, mechanical, HVAC service, controls, and design-build company. Main office is located at 6127 South Valley Pike, Mount Crawford, VA 22841. Parent Company - Comfort Systems USA. The primary purpose of this position is to service, maintain, and repair most commercial HVAC systems.

Requirements

  • Must be a high school graduate and/or have GED
  • Must be a trade school graduate and 2-5+ years related experience
  • Must hold a Universal Refrigerant Cad
  • Must possess and/or be actively obtaining WV or VA tradesman certification
  • OSHA 10-Hour Certification required as a minimum
  • Comply with all safety standards, policies, and procedures
  • Understand and perform 5x5 job hazard evaluations
  • Maintain a clean work area and comply with housekeeping requirements
  • Regular and punctual attendance
  • Ability to work on a team and interact with people
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with employees and customers
  • Must be able to adjust focus for reading screens, monitors and controls and have color vision
  • Broad knowledge of larger commercial HVAC equipment
  • Understanding of single and three phase electrical systems
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Flexibility to adjust to change, effectively work under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Valid driver’s license required and ability to meet company driver qualification policy preferred

Responsibilities

  • Follow and adhere to all company safety requirements and processes
  • Service, perform maintenance on, and repair most DX equipment up to 100 tons
  • Service, perform maintenance on, and repair most packaged, water-cooled AC units up to 100 tons
  • Service, perform maintenance on, and repair most water-source heat pumps and associated equipment
  • Service, perform maintenance on, and repair most computer-room-type units with self-contained humidifiers and controls
  • Service, perform maintenance on, and repair most gas-fired and electric heating systems found in commercial equipment up to 100 tons
  • Service, perform maintenance on, and repair most pneumatic, electronic, and modular DDC control systems generally associated with commercial HVAC systems
  • Service, perform maintenance on, and repair most air-handling equipment including VAV systems typically found in larger commercial systems
  • Perform basic maintenance on atmospheric gas-fired hot-water boilers
  • Perform general maintenance on chilled- and hot-water piping and pumping systems and associated equipment
  • Service, perform maintenance on, and repair most direct expansion AC equipment up to 5 tons
  • Service, perform maintenance on, and repair most gas-fired and electric heating systems typically found in systems up to 5 tons
  • Service, perform maintenance on, and repair most low voltage (24-volt or 1- to 10-volt) temperature-control systems generally associated with HVAC equipment
  • Service, perform maintenance on, and repair most air-handling equipment and duct systems associated with the commercial HVAC equipment
  • Start system, observe operation, read gauges, and instruments, and adjust mechanisms such as valves, controls, and pumps to control levels of fluid, pressure, and temperature in system
  • Replace or adjust defective or worn parts to repair systems
  • Diagnose malfunctioning equipment accurately, bringing questionable situations with equipment or customers to the immediate supervisor’s attention
  • Contact base after each call, keeping the dispatcher informed at all times as to the job status
  • Check in at the end of the day and get next day job assignment before leaving for the day
  • Change air filters
  • Clean condenser and evaporator coils, fans, and ductwork
  • Inspect, adjust, and replace fan belts on motors
  • Lubricate bearings on fan shafts and motors
  • Drill holes and install mounting brackets and hangers into floors and walls of buildings
  • Lift, hoist, and align components into position
  • Inspect screws, bolts, rivets, welds; braze parts to assemble structural and functional components such as motors, controls, switches, gauges, wiring harnesses, valves, pumps, compressors, condensers, cores, and pipes
  • Install wiring to connect components to electric power source
  • Assist more senior service technicians as instructed by supervisor
  • Submit labor hours worked & work description daily in Tech Tool
  • Complete Daily Safety Report in XOI daily
  • Complete work orders with work descriptions daily in Tech Tool
  • Submit credit card receipts to Service Coordinator at time of purchase
  • Communicate with customers daily
  • Submit time and material quotes to the office before leaving customers location
  • Order parts with RBI purchase order for repairs before leaving customers location
