About The Position

Riddleberger Brothers, Inc. is seeking to hire a talented and growth-minded individual to join our team as a Commercial HVAC Service Technician Level 2. Main office is located at 6127 South Valley Pike, Mount Crawford, VA 22841. Parent Company - Comfort Systems USA. The primary purpose of this position is to service, maintain, and repair most commercial HVAC systems.

Requirements

Must be a high school graduate and/or have GED
Must be a trade school graduate and 2-5+ years related experience
Must hold a Universal Refrigerant Cad
Must possess and/or be actively obtaining WV or VA tradesman certification
OSHA 10-Hour Certification required as a minimum
Comply with all safety standards, policies, and procedures
Understand and perform 5x5 job hazard evaluations
Maintain a clean work area and comply with housekeeping requirements
Regular and punctual attendance
Ability to work on a team and interact with people
Must be able to communicate effectively with employees and customers
Must be able to adjust focus for reading screens, monitors and controls and have color vision
Broad knowledge of larger commercial HVAC equipment
Understanding of single and three phase electrical systems
Strong organization and time management skills
Flexibility to adjust to change, effectively work under pressure and meet deadlines
Consistently work with team to provide solutions and meet customer needs
Consistently display a positive and cooperative attitude and represent the company in a professional manner
Strong communication skills, verbal and written

Ability to travel to job sites and occasionally have overnight stays
Ability to work 8-to-10-hour days, flexible schedule, and overtime when necessary

Valid driver’s license required and ability to meet company driver qualification policy preferred

Responsibilities

Follow and adhere to all company safety requirements and processes
Service, perform maintenance on, and repair most DX equipment up to 100 tons
Service, perform maintenance on, and repair most packaged, water-cooled AC units up to 100 tons
Service, perform maintenance on, and repair most water-source heat pumps and associated equipment
Service, perform maintenance on, and repair most computer-room-type units with self-contained humidifiers and controls
Service, perform maintenance on, and repair most gas-fired and electric heating systems found in commercial equipment up to 100 tons
Service, perform maintenance on, and repair most pneumatic, electronic, and modular DDC control systems generally associated with commercial HVAC systems
Service, perform maintenance on, and repair most air-handling equipment including VAV systems typically found in larger commercial systems
Perform basic maintenance on atmospheric gas-fired hot-water boilers
Perform general maintenance on chilled- and hot-water piping and pumping systems and associated equipment
Service, perform maintenance on, and repair most direct expansion AC equipment up to 5 tons
Service, perform maintenance on, and repair most gas-fired and electric heating systems typically found in systems up to 5 tons
Service, perform maintenance on, and repair most low voltage (24-volt or 1- to 10-volt) temperature-control systems generally associated with HVAC equipment
Service, perform maintenance on, and repair most air-handling equipment and duct systems associated with the commercial HVAC equipment
Start system, observe operation, read gauges, and instruments, and adjust mechanisms such as valves, controls, and pumps to control levels of fluid, pressure, and temperature in system
Replace or adjust defective or worn parts to repair systems
Diagnose malfunctioning equipment accurately, bringing questionable situations with equipment or customers to the immediate supervisor’s attention
Contact base after each call, keeping the dispatcher informed at all times as to the job status
Check in at the end of the day and get next day job assignment before leaving for the day
Change air filters
Clean condenser and evaporator coils, fans, and ductwork
Inspect, adjust, and replace fan belts on motors
Lubricate bearings on fan shafts and motors
Drill holes and install mounting brackets and hangers into floors and walls of buildings
Lift, hoist, and align components into position
Inspect screws, bolts, rivets, welds; braze parts to assemble structural and functional components such as motors, controls, switches, gauges, wiring harnesses, valves, pumps, compressors, condensers, cores, and pipes
Install wiring to connect components to electric power source
Assist more senior service technicians as instructed by supervisor
Submit labor hours worked & work description daily in Tech Tool
Complete Daily Safety Report in XOI daily
Complete work orders with work descriptions daily in Tech Tool
Submit credit card receipts to Service Coordinator at time of purchase
Communicate with customers daily
Submit time and material quotes to the office before leaving customers location
Order parts with RBI purchase order for repairs before leaving customers location
