About The Position

The Commercial Healthcare Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and managing all day-to-day jobsite activities, including project start-up, scheduling, safety, site management, and directing field personnel. This role requires excellent communication and leadership skills to serve as the client's direct point of contact, advocate for team collaboration, and ensure work is consistent with the contracted scope. A primary responsibility is to establish a baseline schedule while proactively addressing challenges that could impact the progress of work.

Requirements

  • Expertise in form of Healthcare Construction.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience as a Superintendent in Healthcare Construction.
  • Proficient in use of company software and in personal computer applications including Microsoft Office, Windows, and construction industry related software.
  • Familiarity with industry terminology and concepts.
  • Broad knowledge of construction means and methods.
  • Excellent knowledge of the company’s industry and trends impacting its business.
  • Knowledge and ability to interpret building codes and ordinances.
  • Must have knowledge of structural applications.
  • Advanced understanding of blue print reading.
  • Thorough working knowledge of all phases of a construction project from start to finish (i.e., site work, utilities, foundations structure, framing, exterior envelope, roofing, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, finishes).
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, and members of the business community.
  • Must have communication skills that will enable response to common inquiries or complaints from customers and/or others as well as ability to effectively present information to superiors.
  • Ability to effectively represent the company at meetings and presentations.
  • Ability to manage and effectively delegate responsibilities to WHGC field personnel, subcontractors, vendors, etc.
  • Ability to manage activities of project staff to ensure all work is performed in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain industry safety procedures and standards.
  • Uphold your commitments and hold others accountable for theirs.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) or more years as an Assistant Superintendent.
  • Three (3) or more years as a Project Engineer, Field Engineer or Trade Foreman of an equivalent construction operation.
  • Experience with Procore Project Management Software beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing and managing all day to day jobsite activities including, but limited to project start up, scheduling, safety, site management and directing field personnel.
  • Serving as the client’s direct point of contact.
  • Establishing a baseline schedule while proactively addressing challenges that could impact the progress of work.
  • Ensuring that the work performed is consistent with the contracted scope of work.
  • Enforcing jobsite rules.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of project cost reporting per company procedures.
  • Interpreting building codes and ordinances.
  • Reading and analyzing drawings, schematics, specifications, legal documents, and industry/trade magazines.
  • Visualizing all finish products/systems as intended by the blueprints and planning coordination measures to curb potential change orders, downtime associated with information requests, design omissions, etc.
  • Conducting the Overall Project Schedule Meeting, Foreman’s Meetings (weekly), Near Term Scheduling Meetings (bi-weekly), and Safety Tool-Box Meetings (weekly).
  • Composing bar chart project schedules producing efficient flow of work for all trades.
  • Responding to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, and members of the business community.
  • Managing pre-construction activities.
  • Reviewing and understanding the material status log/submittal log to ensure materials are delivered to meet the current schedule.
  • Maintaining up-to-date insurance certificates for job-related subcontractors.
  • Controlling costs within his/her particular responsibility area within a given project.
  • Representing the company at meetings and presentations.
  • Managing and effectively delegating responsibilities to WHGC field personnel, subcontractors, vendors, etc.
  • Managing activities of project staff to ensure all work is performed in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring project activities are performed in accordance with WHGC policy and procedures.
  • Ensuring project activities are performed in accordance with the plans, specifications, code, and authorities having jurisdiction.
  • Maintaining industry safety procedures and standards.
  • Upholding commitments and holding others accountable for theirs.
  • Maintaining accurate and complete records of material receiving and storage.
  • Producing an acceptable and quality product each and every day.
