About The Position

The Commercial Grounds Maintenance (CGM) Crew Leader/Foreman is a hands-on supervisory position responsible for leading a year-round crew in the delivery of commercial landscape maintenance services. This role combines active field labor with planning, administrative, and regulatory functions. The Crew Leader ensures that properties are maintained to company standards while training staff, managing daily workloads, and maintaining positive client relationships on-site.

Requirements

  • Supervisory experience in landscape maintenance.
  • Proficiency in operating various landscape maintenance equipment (mowers, tillers, aerators, slit seeders, wheel tractors).
  • Experience with power tools (edgers, string trimmers, chainsaws, backpack blowers, sprayers).
  • Knowledge of irrigation system maintenance.
  • Ability to perform physical labor including mowing, raking, digging, and weeding.
  • Experience loading and unloading heavy equipment and planting materials.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to safely operate company vehicles with or without trailers.
  • Ability to prepare timesheets and other daily paperwork.
  • Strong communication and client service skills.
  • Commitment to safety meetings and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and train maintenance crews on all aspects of landscape maintenance services.
  • Schedule and manage daily workloads to ensure efficiency.
  • Plan, coordinate, and collect necessary equipment and job materials each day.
  • Attend and actively participate in crew and department general and safety meetings.
  • Perform mowing, raking, digging, and weeding of commercial landscapes.
  • Monitor and maintain irrigation controllers (changing times, replacing heads, etc.).
  • Safely operate mowers (push, walk-behind, ride), tillers, aerators, slit seeders, and wheel tractors.
  • Utilize edgers, string trimmers, chainsaws, backpack blowers, and sprayers.
  • Load and unload heavy equipment and planting materials from trucks.
  • Prepare timesheets and other daily paperwork as required by the company.
  • Maintain on-site relations and professional communications with clients, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Safely drive company-owned vehicles (with or without trailers) to transport crew members.
