About The Position

This internship is designed for students or recent graduates looking to gain hands-on experience supporting the maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of commercial engines and electric power generation equipment in a field/shop environment. The intern will work under the direction of experienced technicians and supervisors to learn safe work practices, build mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, and provide excellent customer service.

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in Diesel Technology, Power Generation, Industrial Maintenance, Automotive Technology, Electrical/Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn; ability to take direction and apply new knowledge.
  • Strong time management, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Computer literacy including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Professional communication skills (written, email, and verbal).
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required (motor vehicle check may be completed for final candidate).
  • Schedule flexibility to accommodate business needs; occasional travel may be required.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic mechanical repair experience (academic, personal, or previous work) preferred.
  • Interest in engines and power generation equipment; familiarity with basic electrical concepts is a plus.
  • Ability to read technical documents such as service manuals and (with training) electrical schematics is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with preventive maintenance, inspections, and basic repairs on electric power generation and industrial equipment under supervision.
  • Support troubleshooting by gathering information, observing symptoms, and assisting with diagnostic steps (including the use of manuals, schematics, and test equipment as trained).
  • Help with installation, setup, and basic checks of components such as engines, accessories, switchgear, and electrical controls (as applicable and as trained).
  • Document work performed and parts used; help maintain accurate service records.
  • Communicate professionally with the field team, dispatch, and customers to support jobsite coordination.
  • Follow all safety requirements and use required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the service team.
