About The Position

The company is seeking an experienced Commercial Drywall Estimator to join its estimating team in Dallas, Texas. The role focuses primarily on estimating and preconstruction for large, complex commercial drywall projects, with substantial client-facing and business development responsibilities. The estimator will independently perform detailed takeoffs, interpret project documents, develop accurate pricing, and prepare competitive bids for projects valued at $500,000 and above. The position is not an Estimator/Project Manager hybrid role. The successful candidate will understand how project size and complexity affect labor, sequencing, materials, constructability, and overall pricing. They will communicate with general contractors and clients throughout the estimating process, build relationships, participate in client meetings and business development, and hand off estimates effectively after projects are awarded. The role involves managing multiple estimates and deadlines in a high-volume environment, with approximately $10 million in estimating volume each month. Estimating and takeoff software experience is preferred; Buzzbid and OST are identified as examples.

Requirements

At least 3 years of commercial drywall estimating experience.
Proven experience completing takeoffs and estimates for commercial projects valued at $500,000 or more.
Strong understanding of commercial drywall construction and labor sequencing.
Ability to independently interpret plans, specifications, and project documents.
Strong understanding of materials, labor, production, and project complexity.
Experience working directly with general contractors.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines.
Detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills.
Comfortable in a client-facing role.
Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative estimating team.

Responsibilities

Perform detailed takeoffs and estimates for commercial drywall projects.
Review blueprints, specifications, architectural drawings, and other project documents.
Develop accurate material, labor, and production estimates.
Analyze project scope, complexity, sequencing, and constructability.
Prepare competitive bids and proposals for large commercial projects, including projects valued at $500,000 and above.
Communicate directly with general contractors and clients throughout the estimating process.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key general contractors.
Participate in client meetings and business development activities.
Turn estimates over effectively once projects are awarded.
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate pricing and project expectations.
Manage multiple estimates and deadlines in a high-volume environment.
