About The Position

A Driver - CDL (B) safely operates a collection truck and provides prompt, courteous, and complete waste removal services to customers. The driver ensures the vehicle meets Company safety standards before operation, complies with Company, state, and federal regulations while driving, and completes daily vehicle condition reports (VCRs) so defects can be repaired promptly.

The role involves servicing a designated route and disposal site, operating truck controls to collect and dispose of refuse, interacting professionally with customers and coworkers, and maintaining the vehicle and required documentation. Drivers follow safety procedures and productivity standards and may perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s License with air brakes endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete pre- and post-operation vehicle inspections in accordance with Company policy, checking tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls; report safety issues on standard reports.
• Safely operate the heavy truck on the designated route and to the disposal site, following route sheets and maps and servicing customers as assigned.
• Operate manual and/or automatic controls to lift and load refuse, use the compactor, and dispose of collected material at the designated facility, in accordance with safety policies and procedures.
• Interact courteously and professionally with customers, dispatchers, and others to ensure routes are serviced promptly.
• Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag them according to applicable procedures.
• Monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable materials.
• Clean areas affected by accidental waste spills while following applicable safety standards and policies.
• Monitor vehicle condition to ensure operational readiness, minimize downtime, and clean waste from the packer blade and truck body on each disposal trip where appropriate.
• Complete route and productivity sheets, VCRs, and other required reports.
• Meet required departmental productivity standards so customers are serviced efficiently and on time.
• Follow required safety policies and procedures and actively participate in the Company’s ReSOP program.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
