About The Position

This opportunity is for an unpaid internship as part of the DOD SkillBridge Program, designed to support active-duty service members transitioning to civilian life. WSP USA is seeking a Full-Time Commercial Diver for their Greenville, SC office. This role offers valuable, marketable skills in underwater tasks, structural assessments, and equipment maintenance within a growing dive team at a top-ranked international engineering firm. The program provides structured mentorship, professional development, and comprehensive training, with a potential path to permanent employment after successful completion. Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Naval Diving and Salvage Training Center (NDSTC) Diver Certification
  • Active-duty U.S. military service member, preferably with a background in technical fields such as 12D – Army Engineer Diver, ND – Navy Diver, EOD – Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal, UTC – Underwater Construction Technician (Seabees), or DV – Coast Guard Diver.
  • Must have authorization and approval from a unit commander to participate in the SkillBridge program.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to pass USDOT physical
  • Ability to pass ADCI medical examination
  • Valid state driver’s license.
  • Physically capable of performing field work; including working in inclement weather, climbing slopes and ladders, carrying gear (up to 75 lbs), operating small boats, and using hand and power tools, etc.
  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others.
  • Capable of self-leadership with attention to detail, ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instructions, and comply with company policies.
  • Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
  • Frequent overnight travel will be required depending on project-specific requirements and project location.
  • Selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Responsibilities

  • Use relevant work experience and training to perform various underwater tasks.
  • Setup and breakdown dive station onsite at project locations.
  • Conduct detailed assessments of underwater structures alongside experienced divers.
  • Draft inspection reports to clearly convey inspection findings to client.
  • Perform routine maintenance of dive equipment under the direct supervision of qualified technician.
  • Assist diving supervisors with preparation and planning of underwater assessments and training.
  • Attend and successfully complete training required for NBIS Underwater Bridge Inspectors.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
