As a Commercial Credit Expert within PNC's Corporate & Commercial Banking organization, you will be based in Denver CO, Portland OR, San Francisco CA or Bellevue WA. This role will act as a culture carrier to many early career or new to PNC employees in the West. They will provide leadership and guidance in alignment with PNC Leadership Standards on PNC risk appetite and client selectivity. They will also support underwriting teams in portfolio management to ensure good client experience. Growth minded - West markets of California, Colorado, Oregon, Utah and Washington are comprised of a different industry mix versus PNC’s other markets. Supporting growth includes considering and expanding our exposure to industries that PNC may have less familiarity with today. This role will need to coordinate with 1LOD and IRM leadership to ensure appropriate strategies are established, measured, and monitored over time.

Requirements

  • Successful candidates must demonstrate appropriate knowledge, skills, and abilities for a role.
  • Bachelors degree
  • Industry experience is typically 8 + years.
  • In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • 8+ years of experience in underwriting or credit, preferably within a leadership role.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively with partners within the organization.
  • Independent thinking skills with the ability to demonstrate strong leadership.
  • Higher level education such as a Masters degree, or PhD is desirable.
  • Specific certifications are often required.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes activities associated with applicable business segment, including the credit approval process, policy and procedural compliance and portfolio risk management, credit monitoring, and reporting.
  • Analyzes the extension of credit, including overdrafts, for clients of high complexity within prescribed approval authorities.
  • Has final approval authority on an obligor's risk rating.
  • Analyzes credit facility structure and underwriting process within the context of credit policies.
  • Supports scorecard related validation, testing and maintenance activities.
  • Ensures understanding of portfolio issues, trends, and root causes in order to manage credit portfolios effectively.
  • Analyzes output to help determine decision-making.
  • Analyzes risk in assigned credit portfolios by reviewing relevant reporting and assessing trends.
  • Maintains knowledge of economic, regulatory and other trends affecting borrowers and helps incorporate this information into the assessment of the borrowers.
