About The Position

The Credit Associate is an entry-level role responsible for supporting Credit Analysts, Senior Credit Analysts, and Portfolio Managers in the administration and monitoring of commercial credit portfolios. This position plays a key role in maintaining credit quality through covenant tracking, financial data management, and client communication. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective communication, serving as a critical operational support function within the credit risk management process. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration or equivalent.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Strong math skills.
  • Ability to deal with normal problems and apply common sense in carrying out instructions and solving problems.
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, and correspondence and speak clearly to customers and employees.
  • Able to manage data, documents, process workflow.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • 2 years’ experience in banking, finance or accounting.
  • Basic understanding of financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow)

  • Has a desire to grow into a Credit Analyst or Commercial Banking track, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary point of contact as it relates to both direct client communication as well as internal advisory to stakeholders for Covenant Tracking and Compliance.
  • Custodian of regional status reporting adhering to protocol outlined by the Bank’s Credit Group for annual reviews and quarterly comments.
  • Organize/manage client correspondence as it relates to the submission of required financial reporting (i.e. financial statements, tax returns, rent rolls, etc.).
  • Gain working knowledge and partner with the applicable Credit Analyst to input financial statements (both corporate and personal) and tax returns into WaFd’s Bank software in preparation for financial analysis and credit worthiness (Financial spreading).
  • Primary responsible party for regional OnBase: file management and departmental indexing/scanning.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for ordering/payment of Credit Reports.
  • Completes special projects assigned by manager.
  • Maintain the integrity of WaFd’s business needs in all lending and deposit account processes and servicing activities.
  • Adhere to bank policies and procedures designed to comply with federal regulations, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act and OFAC regulations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of reports and other recordkeeping requirements.
  • Complete and pass all assigned eLearning courses and assigned certifications as required.
  • Always adhere to security and compliance procedures.
  • Avoid all real or perceived conflicts of interest and always maintain client privacy and confidentiality.
