About The Position

Mimecast is hiring a Commercial Counsel to join its Business Legal Team, serving as a key legal advisor and partner to go-to-market and operational teams. This role sits at the center of commercial activity, supporting business growth through effective contract negotiation, risk management, and scalable legal processes. In this role, you will draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including customer, partner, vendor, and data privacy contracts. You will work closely with sales, procurement, product, compliance, and finance teams to structure agreements that align with company risk tolerance while enabling efficient deal execution. You will act as a trusted advisor to regional business teams, addressing legal and commercial questions as they arise and serving as a primary escalation point for contract-related matters. The role also includes advising on data privacy and security obligations within commercial transactions, ensuring alignment with evolving regulatory frameworks. Beyond transactional work, you will contribute to strengthening the company’s legal infrastructure by developing templates, refining policies, and delivering training that promotes consistency and operational efficiency. You will also support dispute resolution efforts and monitor regulatory developments, translating them into practical guidance for the business.
