Commercial Counsel
About The Position
Crosby is hiring a Commercial Counsel to review and negotiate commercial contracts for ambitious companies, helping move deals to signature with speed and precision. The role combines legal judgment with Crosby’s proprietary AI tools and human-in-the-loop workflows: the counsel directs AI across contract work and focuses expert attention on risks, obligations, off-market terms, anomalies, and edge cases. The Commercial Counsel owns client outcomes end-to-end, maintains a high standard of execution, and contributes to improving Crosby’s legal service delivery. This includes identifying recurring patterns and inefficiencies, codifying contract types and playbooks, and partnering with the legal, engineering, and operations teams. The position is suited to a lawyer who is interested in applying AI to legal practice and working in a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous environment.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of experience reviewing commercial contracts in private practice or in-house.
- Impeccable attention to detail and sound commercial judgment.
- High standards for personal work and a drive to improve it.
- Ability to embrace change and work confidently in a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous environment.
- Clear written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain difficult decisions simply.
- Interest in applying AI to legal work; already experimenting with AI or excited to do so.
Responsibilities
- Review and negotiate commercial contracts, identifying important obligations, risks, and off-market terms.
- Collaborate with Crosby legal team members to interpret contract terms and identify anomalies and edge cases requiring expert review.
- Identify inefficiencies and recurring patterns in contract review and turn them into improvements to team workflows.
- Standardize and codify recurring contract types and playbooks.
- Partner with engineering and operations to evolve Crosby’s legal service delivery model.
- Own client outcomes end-to-end and deliver high-quality execution.
