About The Position

Exterro is seeking an experienced Commercial Counsel to join its growing legal team. This remote-first role focuses primarily on commercial contracting, with approximately 80–90% of the work devoted to owning customer, partner/channel, and vendor contract lifecycles, from intake and drafting through negotiation and execution. The remaining work supports privacy, compliance, product counseling, and related legal matters. The role calls for significant, recent SaaS commercial experience representing a technology provider, independent handling of standard and strategic deals, and sound judgment about when to escalate. It offers an opportunity to develop toward a senior in-house leadership role and expand responsibilities over time. Reporting to the General Counsel, the Commercial Counsel works closely with Sales, Customer Success, Security, Compliance, Product, IT/Security, and Finance. The role supports revenue growth and operational efficiency while mitigating legal risk. Deal flow has meaningful month-end and quarter-end cycles, with periods of significant activity and urgency. The position operates in a fast-paced, international environment and supports cross-border commercial agreements. The successful candidate will negotiate and draft SaaS and technology agreements, maintain templates and playbooks, advise internal stakeholders, and support privacy, data protection, AI compliance, commercial disputes, incident response, and legal risk management. Exterro is a remote-first organization. The stated annual salary range is $143,000–$165,000, with potential variable pay, equity, bonus, or other compensation. The company also offers health insurance, retirement plans, flexible paid time off, and other benefits.
