In this role, you’ll be a key member of Cloudflare’s APAC commercial legal team. We are looking for a commercially savvy lawyer who can confidently navigate complex and high value transactions. You will collaborate and work cross-functionally with other internal groups, across the sales, deal desk, finance, privacy, product legal and security compliance teams and be a trusted advisor, accelerating deal velocity while protecting the company’s interests. This is a unique opportunity to thrive in a fast-paced environment where your legal expertise directly drives business growth. The position is based in Singapore or Sydney and frequent communication with our other offices will be required.

Requirements

  • LL.B. or JD degree with strong academic credentials.
  • Admitted to practice law in Singapore, UK, US, Australia or Japan.
  • At least 4 years relevant experience including a mix of law firm and in-house experience for a technology company (either on secondment or after leaving the law firm).
  • At least 2 years of experience working for an internationally recognized law firm.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new systems and tools, the better to adapt to AI tooling.
  • Substantive experience with drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of complex commercial agreements, including SaaS agreements and consulting services statements of work.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate and draft fluently in English.
  • Resourceful self-starter with an eye for detail, excellent problem-solving capabilities, judgment, negotiation, communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Good strategic, business sense, and demonstrated negotiation skills with respect to legal issues.
  • Proven ability to manage high-volume workloads, multiple stakeholder demands and ever-shifting priorities all while instilling confidence.

Nice To Haves

  • Fluency in Japanese or Mandarin Chinese.
  • Solid understanding of local and international privacy and data protection laws.
  • Experience using administrative management systems such Salesforce, DocuSign, Ironclad and/or JIRA.

Responsibilities

  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of complex commercial agreements, including SaaS agreements and consulting services statements of work.
  • Collaborating and working cross-functionally with other internal groups, including sales, deal desk, finance, privacy, product legal, and security compliance teams.
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to accelerate deal velocity while protecting the company’s interests.
  • Identifying and explaining non-standard terms and associated risks to relevant business stakeholders.
  • Interpreting contract requirements, obligations, and risk exposure and advising on the same.
