The Commercial Contracts Paralegal supports the Life Fitness / Hammer Strength Legal Department by managing and facilitating commercial contracting activities across the business. This role partners closely with Sales, Commercial, and other cross-functional leadership teams to support efficient deal execution while ensuring agreements align with company standards and risk guidelines. The Commercial Contracts Paralegal plays an important role in enabling the business to move quickly while maintaining appropriate legal safeguards. The role requires strong judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to translate legal requirements into practical guidance for business stakeholders. This is a hybrid position primarily based out of our Global Support Hub in Rosemont, IL. Monday and Friday are remote, with Tuesday through Thursday designated as in-office collaboration days. #LI-Hybrid

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years of experience as a paralegal supporting commercial contracts.
  • Strong understanding of commercial contracts and common legal provisions.
  • Ability to balance legal risk with business priorities.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail, sound judgment, and ability to work independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a corporate legal or in-house environment preferred.
  • Experience with contract lifecycle management systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Sales, Commercial, and cross-functional leadership teams to support deal execution from contract intake through signature.
  • Review and support negotiation of commercial agreements including MSAs, order forms, SOWs, amendments, and NDAs.
  • Identify contractual risks, propose practical solutions, and escalate issues when legal review is required.
  • Manage a high volume of contracts, prioritizing requests based on urgency and business impact.
  • Maintain contract templates, playbooks, and contract lifecycle management (CLM) workflows.
  • Partner with Sales Operations, Finance, Pricing, and Procurement to align on contract terms and approvals.
  • Track contract status and cycle times, providing insights to Legal and Commercial leadership.
  • Support compliance with key contractual provisions including confidentiality, data protection, and indemnification.
  • Assist with contract interpretation, legal research, and other support for the Law Department.
  • Identify opportunities to improve contracting processes and increase deal efficiency.
