About The Position

Modern Construction Services is seeking a Traveling Commercial Construction Superintendent for nationwide projects. This role involves managing all aspects of a job site, from initial setup to final closeout, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards. The position begins as an independent contractor (1099) with a clear path to full-time employment, offering an opportunity to demonstrate leadership and project management skills on diverse commercial construction assignments.

Requirements

  • Five or more years as a superintendent in commercial construction.
  • A track record of running commercial projects independently, from start to finish.
  • Strong command of construction safety standards and subcontractor management.
  • Proficiency in Procore/InGenious and Microsoft Project.
  • Clear communication and strong organization, in writing and in person.
  • The ability and willingness to travel, with extended stays at project sites.

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related field. Equivalent field experience counts just as much.
  • Familiarity with Avetta, Bolt or Fexa.
  • Experience running commercial projects across multiple markets and geographies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee all daily construction activities on site, ensuring work aligns with contract drawings, specifications, and project documents.
  • Coordinate subcontractors and trade partners, including orientation, daily scheduling, and performance oversight.
  • Maintain a safe and compliant job site by conducting safety orientations and enforcing all safety protocols.
  • Control quality by inspecting installations and ensuring they meet required standards before acceptance.
  • Build and maintain the three-week look-ahead schedule.
  • Manage the overall construction schedule to ensure timely project completion.
  • Coordinate deliveries, inspections, and milestones to prevent job delays.
  • Run the punch list process and lead trade partners through final inspections and closeout.
  • Ensure all documentation, certifications, and turnover items are complete and organized before project handoff.
  • Report daily progress, document site conditions, RFIs, and any issues affecting schedule or cost to the General Superintendent and Project Manager.
  • Represent Modern Construction Services professionally with clients, architects, and inspectors on site.
