About The Position

We are Florida's premier residential construction law firm for homeowners. We handle construction disputes through all phases of pre-litigation and litigation in Florida state and Federal courts. We are growing very aggressively and seek an experienced Florida litigation paralegal (10+ years) to join our team. We need somebody who understands what happens at a trial or final arbitration hearing and has been there, so that they know what is required to succeed there and therefore know how to help build a case successfully. On the legal production side of our firm, we currently have 5 attorneys, 3 Paralegals, 2 Legal Assistants, and a Legal Production Coordinator. Our office is located in Boca Raton, Florida; however, this job can be performed remotely. Experience with Florida Courts and knowledge of Florida legal procedure are required. Experience with Construction Law is a significant plus.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of high-level litigation support and demonstrated success at a complex litigation, business litigation, or construction litigation law firm in Florida.
  • Significant experience supporting attorneys in preparing for hearings, depositions, trials, arbitrations, and mediations.
  • Ability to get along with co-employees during times of stress.
  • Works cooperatively and professionally with others and does not seek to cast blame.
  • Keeping your attorneys on track and relieving them of burdens that interfere with their best and highest work.
  • Creating order out of chaos.
  • LOVE organization, keeping track of key dates, and keeping the right people informed so that we never miss a deadline.
  • Following through on and taking ownership of an assignment until it is absolutely 100% complete.
  • Solving problems proactively and bringing an idea for a solution to the table and then executing it.
  • Paying strong attention to detail.
  • Mastery of the Microsoft Office suite of products (especially Excel and Word) and Adobe.
  • Willingness to experiment with how AI can improve our workflows.
  • Understanding the Florida Rules of Civil Procedure and the local judge's procedural requirements.
  • Communicating effectively in a friendly and positive way with clients and co-workers.
  • Anticipating the needs of a litigation attorney and relieving his/her/their stress.
  • Thinking on your feet and making smart decisions.
  • Math proficiency.
  • Experience with Florida Courts and knowledge of Florida legal procedure are required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Construction Law is a significant plus.
  • Familiarity with Clio and NetDocuments is a plus.
  • Spanish-speaking is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Anticipate our attorneys' needs and take as much work off their plates as you can handle so that they can focus on more substantive and valuable work.
  • Help clients respond to discovery.
  • Perform legal research if you are proficient in doing so.
  • Ensure that our attorneys have all the relevant materials ready when they have depositions, hearings, or meetings.
  • Analyze documents produced by clients and other parties to lawsuits for how they impact clients' claims on a substantive level, and record and organize your notes in a way that makes the attorneys' review more efficient.
  • Participate in the creation of systems and procedures for this role.
  • Support attorneys in preparing for hearings, depositions, trials, arbitrations, and mediations.
