About The Position

The Commercial Construction Foreman is responsible for leading field crews and overseeing daily on-site construction activities for commercial projects. This role ensures work is performed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with company standards, project specifications, and quality expectations. The Foreman serves as the primary field leader, coordinating labor, materials, subcontractors, and equipment while maintaining strong communication with the Project Manager and Superintendent. This position is ideal for a hands-on leader with strong carpentry skills and broad construction knowledge. The Foreman should be capable of performing and supervising work across multiple trades, making them a versatile resource for commercial tenant improvements, remodels, and general construction projects. Success in this role means projects stay on schedule, crews are productive, safety incidents are minimized, and workmanship meets or exceeds company standards.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of commercial construction experience.
  • Strong carpentry background with experience in commercial construction.
  • Experience performing work with: Wood framing and carpentry, Drywall installation and repair, Painting, Basic plumbing, Basic electrical, General building maintenance and repairs.
  • Proven ability to work as a versatile, hands-on construction professional capable of completing a wide variety of commercial construction tasks.
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years in a Foreman or field leadership role preferred.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise field crews on commercial construction projects.
  • Assign daily tasks and set clear expectations.
  • Monitor productivity and job performance.
  • Train and mentor crew members.
  • Enforce company policies and job site rules.
  • Maintain positive morale and team accountability.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.
  • Ensure work is completed according to plans and project scope.
  • Coordinate sequencing of work with other trades.
  • Identify potential delays or conflicts and proactively address them.
  • Verify materials and equipment are available when needed.
  • Perform and oversee a variety of construction tasks, including rough and finish carpentry, wood framing, drywall installation/repair, interior/exterior painting, basic plumbing repairs, basic electrical work, general building repairs, punch list completion, and tenant improvement work.
  • Enforce OSHA standards and company safety policies.
  • Conduct daily safety briefings (tailgate meetings).
  • Identify and correct unsafe conditions.
  • Ensure proper use of PPE and equipment.
  • Report incidents and near misses immediately.
  • Inspect work to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Maintain high craftsmanship standards.
  • Prevent rework by identifying issues early.
  • Coordinate inspections as required.
  • Assist the Project Manager with short-term scheduling.
  • Track daily progress and production rates.
  • Coordinate deliveries and equipment usage.
  • Communicate delays, weather impacts, and material shortages.
  • Complete daily reports (labor, equipment, progress, issues).
  • Track crew hours and job cost codes accurately.
  • Document changes and field conditions.
  • Maintain job site logs and photo documentation.
