Commercial Attorney - AI Contract Review Expert
About The Position
Careerflow Human Data Labs is seeking experienced in-house commercial attorneys to review and redline contracts for a legal AI platform. The role involves evaluating contracts as you would in a Fortune 2000 in-house legal department, using a client platform similar to Google Docs. You will redline documents, accept or reject terms, and provide detailed comments explaining your reasoning, capturing the judgment of risk-averse, large-enterprise counsel. This is expert evaluation work, not legal advice, with no attorney-client relationship or malpractice exposure. The work is performed on your schedule.
Requirements
- J.D. and experience practicing as a commercial attorney in-house at a Fortune 2000 company (current or former)
- 2+ years of commercial contracting experience (2-4 years is a fit; more is welcome)
- Based in the United States
- Strong written communication: your comments and reasoning are the product
- Reliable availability for 10 hours/week
- Law-firm-only backgrounds do not qualify for this role. The client specifically needs the in-house, large-enterprise perspective.
Responsibilities
- Review commercial contracts on the client's platform (2 hours/day on average)
- Redline with track changes, following a defined review format
- Accept, reject, or comment on terms as you would have in-house
- Write out your reasoning clearly and in detail: not just what you'd change, but why, and how hard you'd push
- Calibrate your reviews against a golden reference and participate in a shared Slack channel with the project team
