About The Position

This program analyzes credit information to support lending decisions and processes for new and existing Commercial banking loans and credit solutions in an assigned portfolio of clients. The role involves making credit decisions and recommendations in compliance with bank policies and procedures while maintaining an exceptional client service environment. Key activities include performing financial analysis and calculations, assessing client creditworthiness, preparing detailed credit summaries, and analyzing financial performance and risk profiles of clients. The program supports credit-granting decisions by making recommendations to management, and assists in the negotiation of loan terms and conditions and the structuring of loans. It also involves portfolio monitoring and compliance, analyzing metrics, and assessing industry trends to identify risks and opportunities, as well as developing proposals to capture new business and expand client relationships. The role monitors loan performance, accuracy and integrity of loan documentation, and addresses credit-related issues. Building and maintaining client relationships is crucial for long-term financial performance, in collaboration with Relationship Managers and business partners. The program structures and supports new, renewal, and extension loans aligned with client needs and bank & risk policies. It conducts financial analysis and risk assessments of clients’ credit information for an assigned portfolio to provide insights and make informed decisions. The role monitors portfolio performance on an ongoing basis, taking corrective action when required, and minimizes BMO’s risk exposure by adhering to credit policies, regulatory standards, and operational guidelines. It serves as a point of contact for service requests, ensuring expectations are consistently met or exceeded, and escalates issues when needed. The program supports and implements initiatives to enhance service quality, acquire new business, and expand client relationships, identifying revenue and cross-selling opportunities to enhance portfolio growth and share of wallet opportunities. It leverages analysis tools to nurture and grow a portfolio that exceeds ROE thresholds and evaluates client returns proactively. The role also manages timely and accurate data entry into BMO's systems and leverages the data to support decision-making. Focus may be on a specific business/group. The role requires creative thinking, proposing new solutions, and exercising judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules. The individual will work mostly independently, with broader work or accountabilities assigned as needed. Taking measured risks while protecting the bank by applying the Risk Management Framework in the execution of the role, in line with the Risk Culture and within the approved Risk Appetite, making sound and risk-informed decisions that align to business strategy, protect assets, and adhere to applicable policy documents, laws, and regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Business Administration, Finance and Accounting preferred. Any other related discipline or commensurate work experience considered.

Responsibilities
