About The Position

The Commercial Account Manager will be responsible for retaining current clients, analyzing client contracts for insurance purposes, and negotiating with underwriters. This role involves overseeing the preparation of certificates, managing client service work product to ensure compliance with internal standards, and reviewing expiring policies with the Account Management Team. The position requires preparing and presenting specifications to underwriters, negotiating coverage and pricing, and preparing accurate proposals. The Account Manager will also be responsible for placing coverage, overseeing invoicing, documenting client interactions, and assisting with account reconciliations. Developing and maintaining strong business relationships with a high level of integrity, trust, and professionalism is crucial. This role involves communicating with the Account Management Team about client or underwriter concerns, preparing various displays or documentation, and adhering to all company policies and procedures. Additionally, the Commercial Account Manager will complete projects as requested by management, work with other Account Team members to ensure client needs are met, and act as a mentor to other client service staff, including training and development.

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of insurance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer literacy and demonstrated ability.
  • Math aptitude.
  • State of residency Producer’s license
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years insurance experience
  • Working towards industry-approved designation

Responsibilities

  • Retain current clients.
  • Analyze client contracts for insurance purposes and negotiate with underwriters.
  • Oversee preparation of certificates, as needed, and in accordance with policy terms and limitations.
  • Negotiate additional coverages as required and requested by client.
  • Manage client service work product ensuring compliance of internal standards and procedures.
  • Review all expiring policies with Account Management Team and obtain the updated renewal information from the client, consulting with the Marketing Department, as needed.
  • Prepare and present specifications to underwriters, negotiate for breadth of coverage and competitive pricing.
  • Refer unacceptable results to Account Executive promptly.
  • Prepare accurate proposals.
  • Place coverage, oversee invoicing, and document to client.
  • Assist in account reconciliations, as requested or as needed.
  • Develop and maintain business relationships which will have a high level of integrity, trust, honesty, and creativity.
  • Conduct business with a positive demeanor, demonstrating professionalism in our commitment to service.
  • Communicate with the Account Management Team regarding any potential change, problem, or concern by client or underwriters.
  • Prepare various displays or other documentation, as requested by the Account Executive or client.
  • Adhere to all Parker, Smith & Feek policies and procedures including active participation in PS&F’s commitment to quality management and control.
  • Complete projects upon management’s request.
  • Work with other Account Team members to ensure client needs are met.
  • Proactively assist all Team members in their career development, as well as be available to help all others in their development including effective mentorship.
  • Act as a mentor in the development of other client service staff, taking on the responsibility of training, when requested.
  • Additional projects as requested by management.
