About The Position

The Commercial Account Manager serves as the primary day-to-day contact for client requests within their assigned book of business, focusing on Mid-Market or Emerging accounts. This role operates under the direction of the Account Executive and is responsible for preparing renewal materials, supporting client interactions and negotiations, and managing the marketing submission process with carriers. The position also involves receiving and reviewing quotes, generating proposals, processing policies, and handling various administrative tasks related to client accounts.

Requirements

  • Ability to build underwriter and client relationships.
  • Ability to delegate to appropriate parties when necessary.
  • Experience with MS Office products required (specifically PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal.

  • Holds or is pursuing general insurance designation.
  • Some travel required (up to 20% depending on book of business & industry).

Responsibilities

  • Supports and demonstrates IMA’s core values, including diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Serves as the day-to-day contact for all client requests within a book of business (primarily Mid-Market accounts OR Emerging accounts) with direction from the Account Executive.
  • Prepares or delegates the preparation of all relevant renewal materials, including Premium & loss summary, exposures, coverage comparison, and premium & rate information.
  • Partners with the Account Executive (AE) on client interactions, negotiations, technical analysis, and program design.
  • Supports the AE with new client onboarding.
  • Develops the ability to anticipate problems through client or underwriter communications or industry changes.
  • Uses the client workbook, and under the direction of the Account Executive, creates the marketing submission and manages ongoing negotiations with carriers.
  • Receives quotes, reviews them for accuracy and desired coverages, terms, and pricing from submission, generates and populates the proposal, and sends it to the Account Executive for completion/review.
  • Receives policies, sends instructions to the applicable Center of Excellence (COE), and keeps the COE abreast of any changes that occur during negotiations, with the ability to process the policy if needed.
  • Performs premium allocations, surplus lines template preparation, Certificate of Insurance request template preparation & master approval, on-demand certificates, basic contract reviews, policy endorsements, resolving coverage and premium discrepancy issues, and audits on expired and/or non-renewed policies.
