About The Position

Plan, lay out, weld, install, test, and repair all types of pipe and similar tubular products in accordance with applicable plans, specifications, welding codes, and industry standards. This skilled position involves precise, independent welding and fitting work, coordination with field labor crews, and ensuring work meets production, quality, safety, code, design, and contract requirements.

Requirements

• May require a high school diploma or equivalent and previous experience in the field or a related area.
• Strong working knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.
• Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management and supervision.
• Proficiency in the safe and efficient use of electrical tools, hand tools, power tools, layout tools, and measurement tools.
• Ability to meet all physical requirements.
• Must have all required tools.
• Ability to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces, potentially exceeding 200 feet.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Ability to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required by workload.

Responsibilities

• Plan, diagram, and lay out pipe welding work.
• Coordinate with field labor crews to support efficient installations.
• Position welding setups, fit piping, and independently perform precise welds.
• Lay out and assemble pipes according to production standards, quality and safety requirements, codes, designs, and specifications.
• Repair welds and correct substandard welds.
• Assist with coordinating prefabrication layout or installation.
• Assist with rigging materials.
• Operate air arc gougers, grinders, stress-relieving machines, and other industry machines, tools, and equipment.
• Estimate sizes, distances, quantities, time, costs, resources, or materials needed for work activities.
• Inspect subordinate employees’ work for compliance with contract plans and specifications, identify deficiencies, and explain and take corrective action.
• Observe and comply with safety and project rules, and perform other duties as required.
