About The Position

The Combination Welder (Field Services) is responsible for creating quality welds in accordance with drawings, specifications, applicable codes and standards. The role requires the ability to prepare product to be welded, perform minor maintenance on tools and equipment, and ensure compliance with all safety and company policies. This position also involves inspecting the worksite, planning installation sequences, and observing all safety rules.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree or trade school certification in craft preferred, but significant hands-on experience will also be considered.
  • Strong, hands-on background in welding of plate, piping (including small bore) and structural components, including carbon steel and stainless steel (where applicable), using GTAW, GMAW, SMAW and FCAW welding processes and equipment.
  • Minimum 5 years of industrial welding experience desired, but will consider lesser experience depending upon individual.

Responsibilities

  • Create quality welds in accordance with drawings, specifications, applicable codes and standards.
  • Ensure welds pass inspection/examination in accordance with ASME Sec IX acceptance criteria and utilizing typical welding inspection non-destructive examination methods.
  • Prepare product to be welded by grinding, drilling, milling, tapping and cutting steel/aluminum parts.
  • Change wire and welding gas as needed.
  • Change gas tanks as required.
  • Inspect worksite to determine presence of obstructions.
  • Plan sequence on installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other workers.
  • Perform minor maintenance and cleaning activities of tools and equipment.
  • Observe and comply with all safety and project rules and all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required.
