Combination Welder
About The Position
Under general supervision, this role involves setting up, operating, and adjusting MIG, TIG, Heliarc, and torch welding equipment to weld and cut various types of metal. The position requires a considerable amount of experience in operating production welding equipment and knowledge of different welding methods and techniques for various metals. The role also includes moving and positioning castings, changing gas cylinders, repairing castings, and visually checking completed work for adherence to specifications. Maintaining a clean work area and adhering to company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines are essential.
Requirements
- Considerable experience involving the operation of production welding equipment including MIG, TIG, Heliarc and torch welding methods.
- Considerable knowledge of equipment set-up, adjustment and operation.
- Considerable knowledge of cutting methods and techniques for different types of metal using MIG, TIG, Heliarc and torch welding processes.
- Knowledge of safe work methods and procedures.
- Ability to set-up, adjust and operate MIG, TIG, Heliarc and torch welding equipment.
- Knowledge of hazardous materials risks and emergency response procedures.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, lift, move, and carry material and equipment weighing 25 pounds or less.
- Ability to move heavier objects with the assistance of co-workers or using mechanical devices.
- Ability to perform essential functions of the job.
- Ability to use proper safety equipment including safety gloves, glasses, leather, apron, safety shoes, and welding hood.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment substance abuse and physical screening.
- Verification of documents pertaining to your right to work in the United States using E-VERIFY.
- Completion of required employment documents.
Responsibilities
- Set up, adjust, and operate MIG welding equipment to cut and meld steel castings.
- Set up, adjust, and operate TIG welding equipment to cut and meld brass and aluminum.
- Operate Heliarc welding equipment for x-ray welding work.
- Move and position castings for various jobs.
- Change gas cylinders and use correct welding gas for different alloys.
- Repair castings, gouges, and leaks.
- Visually check completed work for adherence to governmental specifications.
- Maintain a clean work area.
- Ensure regular punctuality, attendance, and absence reporting in conformance with company policies.
- Fully comply with company rules, policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure safe and effective operations.
