About The Position

This role may be filled at the Apprentice or Journey level dependent upon qualifications. May represent the company for service work in properties (small towns, communities, and rural areas) that are gas and/or electric. Shall perform similar and less skilled work as required.

Requirements

High School Diploma Required
Successful completion of Line Mechanic Apprenticeship
Satisfactory passage of Line Mechanic Examination
Subject to DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements under 49 CFR Part 40 and FMCSA (Part 382) and PHMSA (Part 199) regulations.
Obtain and maintain valid Commercial Driver’s License.

Residency Requirement: Travel time from your primary residence to your assigned headquarters must be 35 minutes or less under normal driving conditions.

Responsibilities

Observe pressure, temperature, inking and changing charts, reading meters.
Leak activities, either survey or customer generated: probe gas mains, services, customers premises using gas leak detectors, both gas and CO.
Set meters, turn gas on/off, lighting equipment as necessary.
General minor customer service work.
Assist a Journeyman Gas Mechanic in the installation, operation and maintenance of pressurized mains and services.
Perform same duties as a Line Mechanic (ELECTRIC).
Perform Border Station activities (GAS).
Perform leak activities (GAS).
Set meters, turn gas on/off, lighting equipment as necessary (GAS).
Perform general minor customer service work (GAS).
Assist a Journeyman Gas Mechanic in the installation, operation and maintenance of pressurized mains and services (GAS).
