About The Position

R&P is looking for a professional who wants to join our team. We are a small-sized defense contractor providing Engineering, Logistics, Program Management and Technical Services to government clients. We need a Combat System Technician ready to join a fast-paced and exciting work environment.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a high school, trade or industrial school or correspondence school in which credits were received in algebra, plane geometry, trigonometry, and physics.
  • Three (3) years of practical experience in responsible combat system engineering duties including three (3) years of progressive experience involving operation, maintenance, and testing of Surface Combatant Class Naval ship systems and equipment.
  • Should have three (3) years of experience directly related to Surface Combatant Combat Support Systems testing in multiple areas of Combat Systems suite to include, but not limited to: Cable testing, Electromagnetic Interference testing, Product Configuration Identification testing, Interior Communications equipment and systems, radar systems, and hydrostatic testing, General Navigation Aids, electronic, mechanical, and electrical primary and support equipment testing, Communications equipment testing, Cryptographic systems testing
  • Perform land-based and underway testing and analysis of radar system performance and provide hands-on training for shipboard maintenance technicians and operators.
  • Current US DOD Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
  • Standing/Walking: Frequently (up to 5-10 hours daily) standing on concrete or uneven surfaces.
  • Lifting/Carrying: Ability to lift and carry up to (25) lbs unassisted.
  • Pushing/Pulling: Ability to exert force of up to (50) lbs to move equipment or materials
  • Climbing: Must be able to ascend/descend ladders, scaffolding, and stairs.
  • Bending/Kneeling: Frequently required to bend, kneel, stoop, and crouch.
  • Reaching: Constant reaching overhead and below shoulder level.
  • Dexterity: Manual dexterity required to operate hand tools and fine-motor controls.
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures, high noise levels, and adverse weather conditions.
  • Must be capable of wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as hard hats, steel-toed boots, and earing protection
  • U.S. citizenship is required for most positions

Nice To Haves

  • An Associates degree as an electronics technician or equivalent Amphibious Ship experience is preferred.
  • LPD/LHA Platform CSLO/ESLO experience perferred

Responsibilities

  • Monitor equipment installations
  • Perform test witnessing
  • Perform hands on testing in multiple areas of Combat System.
  • Install, test, and perform post-installation System Operational Verification Test (SOVT) on an extensive range of US Navy Combat Systems and associated equipment in the combat suite.
  • Responsible for installation, grooming, troubleshooting, activation, testing and integration of combat systems equipment
  • Have the ability to interact with the Shipbuilder and Govt Test Teams
  • Reviews Test Procedures for technical accuracy
  • Assists Shipsforce personnel in system familiarity and operation
  • Supports Builders, Acceptance and Final Contract Trials
