About The Position

The Combat Medicine Research Center (COMBAT) is seeking a highly motivated entry level Research Services Professional to support ongoing COMBAT research projects and center initiatives. This position will provide support to COMBAT leadership and affiliated faculty in the execution of research projects focused on military relevant medical research. Research projects may include clinical research, including clinical trials, and community-based research. The successful applicant will have a passion for research, excellent attention to detail, and strong critical thinking skills to learn and grow in this role. This position will be required to work collaboratively with multiple disciplines across schools, departments, and centers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field
  • A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
  • Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology, medical terminology
  • Knowledge of basic health systems (e.g., prehospital services, trauma systems)
  • Ability to interpret and understand research protocol information
  • Ability to work independently with indirect supervision
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and problem-solving initiative
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution
  • Outstanding customer service skills

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with clinical research or related experience
  • Experience with electronic data capture systems (e.g. RedCap, EMR or EHR and data management systems)
  • Experience working with medical personnel (e.g., EMT/paramedic, clinical care setting)

Responsibilities

  • Assist with day-to-day operations of clinical trials and human subjects research studies
  • Review research protocol inclusion/exclusion criteria, and confirms eligibility of subjects to participate in research studies
  • Participate in subject recruitment efforts, including communicating with individuals expressing interest and all pre-screening/screening activities
  • Perform informed consent process or ensures that the informed consent process has occurred, is properly documented, and that informed consent form documents are filed as required
  • Schedule subject participation in research studies, coordinating availability of necessary space, and clinical research support (e.g., physician, nurse practitioner, laboratory, radiology, pharmacy)
  • Collect, code, and perform data entry in an accurate and timely manner
  • Data collection may include direct discussion with participants around traumatic events and mental health
  • Adhere to research regulatory standards
  • Assist research project investigators in development of research materials
  • Ensure necessary supplies and equipment for studies are in stock and in working order
  • Perform additional duties as needed for successfully execution of research project activities
  • Assist with identifying issues related to operational efficiency and shares results with leadership
  • Collaborate with COMBAT leadership, staff, and affiliated investigators
  • Support development of COMBAT briefing materials
  • Support analysis of COMBAT operations data
  • Create visualizations of COMBAT operations data
  • Perform literature reviews
  • Other duties in support of COMBAT initiatives
