About The Position

As a Special Operations Forces Emerging Threats, Operations, and Planning Support (SOFETOPS) Combat Dive Instructor, you will support the United States Air Force (USAF) Special Warfare Training Wing (SWTW) and the 350th Special Warfare Training Squadron (SWTS). You will be OPCON to the Special Forces Underwater Operations (SFUWO) Course in Key West, FL as cadre and perform duties as required in accordance with the course task organization and structure. You will be ADCON to the 350th Special Warfare Training Squadron (SWTS) in JBSA Lackland, San Antonio, TX. You will deliver expert-level dive instruction and safety supervision to secure additional student billets per SFUWO class without degrading SFUWO training standards.

Requirements

  • Possess a Special Operations diving background with a minimum of 48-months operational experience.
  • Be a previous graduate of a USSOCOM accredited combat dive school.
  • Possess a Secret Clearance.
  • Hold a current military dive physical or the ability to pass one.
  • Hold active BLS/CPR/AED certifications and possess the endurance to sustain four to five hours of continuous in-water instruction daily.
  • Pass an age-graded Army Physical Fitness Test and be able to continually demonstrate the critical physical strength required for emergency combat diver rescues.
  • Demonstrate subject matter expertise in operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of MK-25 and standard Open Circuit dive apparatuses.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver elite combat diving instruction by seamlessly combining expert knowledge of dive physics, pathophysiology, and maritime operations with doctrinally accurate academic lectures.
  • Maintain military bearing during the delivery of instruction and evaluation of Special Operations Forces (SOF) dive candidates.
  • Maintain strict medical readiness through a military dive physical and maintain active BLS/CPR/AED certifications.
  • Lead and coordinate complex diving operations, ensuring all training activities are conducted efficiently and safely.
  • Deliver clear, concise, and doctrinally accurate classroom lectures, practical demonstrations, and pre-dive/post-dive briefs to student audiences.
  • Maintain accurate, objective, and timely administrative records to support student progression and ensure course compliance including drafting detailed performance evaluations, counseling records, and grading rubrics.
  • Meticulously log all dive profiles, equipment maintenance, and daily training events IAW DoW and SFUWO regulations.
  • Adhere to AFI 91-204 (Safety Investigations), US Navy Diving Manual, AFI 10-3504 (Dive Program), US SOCOM Manual 350-25 (Special Operations Forces Baseline Interoperable Training Standards, Combat Diving), and AFMAN 91-224 (Ground Safety Investigations), and any local Standard Operating Procedures at Special Forces Underwater Operations Dive School.
