Colorist, Licensed Cosmetologist
About The Position
Licensed Colorists at Madison Reed Hair Color Bar deliver quality services and excellent guest care. The Colorist helps guests find the color that best suits them and executes services to high standards. The role involves expertise in Madison Reed consultations, hair care products, blowout services, and unlimited roots memberships, while fostering a focused and friendly work environment. Colorists are expected to understand business targets, plan to meet them, keep the workplace clean and organized, and build supportive relationships with guests and team members. The role reports to the Manager and may be full-time or part-time depending on business needs. Availability during peak times is required. Compensation consists of base hourly pay, commissions, and tips; potential earnings for the location are $38–$40 per hour, with actual compensation depending on factors including Hair Color Bar performance, tenure, and time behind the chair.
Requirements
- Active cosmetology license in the state where applying.
- At least 1 year of experience as a colorist behind the chair in a salon environment.
- Effective communication, strong problem-solving, and people skills in a fast-paced retail or salon environment.
- Comfort operating point-of-sale systems.
- Fluency in English.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate and develop teamwork skills to provide a guest experience aligned with the company values of Love, Joy, Trust, Courage, and Responsibility.
- Provide consultations and all menu services, including shampooing, conditioning, blow drying, flat ironing, curling, and chemical services, to high quality standards and guest satisfaction.
- Attend to guest needs to help select suitable products and hair color while remaining flexible to business needs and keeping bookings on time.
- Contribute to monthly sales goals and key performance indicators, including retail sales, services, and memberships.
- Maintain company standards for cleanliness, merchandising, inventory, and security of company assets at the Hair Color Bar.
- Follow Madison Reed systems, policies, processes, and procedures.
- Increase Hair Color Bar revenue by growing average service tickets through additional services, memberships, subscriptions, and home hair care sales.
- Participate in ongoing training and stay current on Madison Reed products and service offerings.
- Support Assistant Colorists’ training and development through demonstration, coaching, and care.
