About The Position

Capital Health Medical Group is seeking a Colorectal Surgeon to join their dedicated team. Capital Health serves a diverse patient population across central New Jersey and Bucks County, PA. Their two-hospital health system, with locations in urban Trenton and suburban Hopewell, provides care to patients from various socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds, including underserved communities, urban populations, and suburban families. Their services cater to patients of all ages, from pediatric to geriatric care, ensuring comprehensive medical services across the lifespan. This opportunity involves holding office hours in off-campus sites in Newtown, PA or Bordentown, NJ. The role includes general surgery call with a goal to transition to Colorectal Surgery call, and encompasses general colorectal procedures with time spent in the Main OR, Surgery Center, Endoscopy Suite, and office hours. Responsibilities include both outpatient and inpatient duties. The work setting is a community hospital with 24/7 365 day a year front-line coverage provided by Surgical PAs who handle consults and phone calls. The practice offers a broad range of Colorectal Pathology involving benign and malignant conditions, and the Center for Digestive Diseases provides collaborative management of IBD patients. The Cancer Center is nationally accredited by the “Commission on Cancer” and features a well-established multidisciplinary tumor board for Colon & Rectal Cancer patients, which is fully accredited by NAPRC.

Requirements

  • Medical Degree from an accredited school of medicine
  • Board Eligible or Certified in General Surgery
  • Board Eligible or Certified in Colorectal Surgery
  • Completion of Colorectal Surgery Fellowship (ACGME accredited) by the time of start of job
  • Ability to obtain license to practice as a physician in the states of NJ and PA with prescriptive privileges

Responsibilities

  • General Surgery call 1:6 with ultimate goal of transitioning to Colorectal Surgery call 1:3
  • General Colorectal procedures
  • Time in the Main OR, Surgery Center, Endoscopy Suite and office hours
  • Outpatient and inpatient responsibilities
  • Collaborative management of IBD patients
  • Participate in multidisciplinary tumor board for Colon & Rectal Cancer patients
