Color Matcher
About The Position
The Color Matcher ensures that raw materials—including colorants, additives, and resins—meet the requirements of Silgan Slatersville, LLC and its internal and external customers. The role formulates and matches customer color targets for the Sales department, approves or adjusts color concentrates before submission to molding, and checks that additives are correctly proportioned and resins meet company standards. The position handles inventory and production transactions and materials throughout the Color facility, inspects and tests incoming raw materials, schedules raw-material deliveries, and maintains quality control of colorants. It manufactures production and customer color chips using plastic injection molding and assists with color production activities such as extruding and unitizing. The Color Matcher provides technical support to Sales and Engineering on materials, additives, and colorants; works with Product Stewardship to verify ingredient compliance with packaging regulations, including FDA requirements; and maintains records of sample and color laboratory activity. The role also meets with vendors and the corporate sourcing group about pricing, new products, and material-related problems, while supporting budgetary and corporate objectives. Prior experience in color manufacturing and forklift operator certification are required.

Responsibilities
- Ensure raw materials, including colorants, additives, and resins, meet internal and external customer requirements.
- Perform inventory and production transactions and handle materials throughout the Color facility.
- Formulate and color-match customer targets for the Sales department.
- Approve and/or adjust color concentrates before submission to molding, ensuring additives are correctly proportioned and resins comply with company standards.
- Manufacture production and customer color chips using plastic injection molding methods.
- Provide Sales and Engineering with technical support related to materials, additives, and colorants.
- Work with Product Stewardship to ensure ingredients comply with government packaging regulations, including FDA requirements, and maintain related compliance letters and specifications.
- Inspect, test, and verify incoming raw materials.
- Schedule deliveries of raw materials and maintain quality control of colorants.
- Maintain records of laboratory and sample activity, including extrusion, henscheling, dye weighing, colorant formulas, grinding, unit submissions, and color checks.
- Meet with vendors and the corporate sourcing group to discuss pricing, new products, and material-related problems requiring solutions.
- Support budgetary and corporate objectives.
- Assist with color production operations, including extruding and unitizing.
