About The Position

LEAF Engineers is a frontrunner for success in providing comprehensive mechanical, electrical and plumbing, technology, and fire protection engineering design services. The Collegiate MEP Intern supports the design and documentation of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems across multiple phases of a project. This role assists with BIM modeling, engineering calculations, system layouts, and construction documentation while gaining hands-on experience in a multidisciplinary engineering environment. The intern works closely with project teams to support project delivery and develop technical and professional skills.

Requirements

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of engineering principles related to building systems design.
  • Familiarity with Revit, AutoCAD, or other industry standard software relevant to the position.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and standard office software.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Self-directed, organized, and motivated with a strong work ethic.
  • Must have completed at least their junior year of study.

Nice To Haves

  • Early career experience in MEP engineering, BIM modeling, or a related field is a plus.
  • Experience using Revit MEP or other BIM software is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and teamwork skills.
  • A desire to learn and grow in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
  • Creativity, initiative, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation of engineering drawings, BIM models, and construction documents for MEP systems.
  • Support project teams with system layouts, coordination, and design documentation.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, visual aids, and technical documentation.
  • Utilize Revit and other industry standard software to support MEP system modeling and coordination.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support project execution and delivery.
  • Participate in project coordination efforts and assist with resolving design-related issues.
  • Work under the supervision of a Project Manager or senior-level team member while continuing to develop technical skills.
