About The Position

Responsible for hosting key corporate and individual donors at the National FFA convention. A team of eight to ten college or graduate-level students will work with high-level donors to ensure they have a positive experience while attending the National FFA convention. The host position is also open to individuals with FFA experience who are currently working in ag-related jobs or internships and have been active with FFA within the past four years. Duties might include chauffeuring donors, providing tours of convention facilities, explaining competitive events, assisting FFA staff with Foundation events, and escorting guests to convention general sessions. The ideal candidate would exhibit excellent interpersonal skills and have a sound understanding and knowledge base of the activities that happen at the National FFA convention.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older if required to drive as an essential function of this volunteer position due to rental car requirements.
  • All accepted candidates will be required to complete a background and motor vehicle screening.
  • High school diploma required.
  • FFA experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Some college or work/internship experience in the ag industry preferred.
  • State FFA officer experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of the agricultural industry or agricultural education a plus.
  • Experience with youth-based and/or alumni membership organizations a plus.
  • Team player with the ability to work independently in a frequently changing environment.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, listening, and verbal communication skills.
  • Confident in making decisions, accurate, detailed-oriented, and able to problem solve/analyze.
  • Energetic, self-starter.

Responsibilities

  • Hosting key corporate and individual donors at National FFA convention.
  • Ensuring donors have a positive experience.
  • Chauffeuring donors to and from the airport and to various convention locations.
  • Providing tours of FFA convention facilities, such as the convention center, the fieldhouse and the stadium, and the fairgrounds.
  • Explaining various competitive events.
  • Assisting FFA staff with Foundation events.
  • Escorting guests to convention general sessions.
  • Working with a diverse group of internal/external people.
  • Providing excellent customer service.
  • Effectively prioritizing, organizing, using time-management skills, and being adept at multi-tasking.
  • Making and receiving phone calls and text messages.
  • Speaking in front of small and large groups.
  • Maintaining flexibility and professionalism when dealing with changing or shifting schedules.
  • Other duties as assigned.
