About The Position

Southeastern Louisiana University’s College of Honors and Excellence, Office for First Year Success, invites applications for a College Success Advisor (CSA) embedded within the College of Science and Technology (CoST). The CSA supports sophomores’ progression through graduation and provides proactive advising and early intervention for CoST students from sophomore through senior year who are on academic probation. The position supports students during the transition from the first to the second year and provides holistic student-success support for at-risk students. It reports to the Director of First-Year Success and works closely with faculty advisors, the First-Year Success office, the Academic & Career Exploration office, and the Tinsley Learning Center.

Requirements

• Master’s degree from an accredited university, conferred by the hire date.
• Experience in academic advising, student success, or a related student-facing role.

Nice To Haves

• Degree in counseling or in a STEM field.
• Familiarity with early alert systems and data-informed advising practice.
• Experience advising at-risk or first-generation student populations.
• Knowledge of financial aid processes and student support resources.
• NACADA membership or participation in professional advising organizations.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work across academic departments.

Responsibilities

• Support sophomores’ progression through graduation.
• Provide proactive advising and early intervention for CoST sophomores through seniors who are on academic probation.
• Support students through the transition from the first to the second year.
• Serve as a resource for holistic student-success support for at-risk students.
• Work in partnership with faculty advisors, the First-Year Success office, the Academic & Career Exploration office, and the Tinsley Learning Center.
