About The Position

SRP is partnering with a variety of organizations to implement programs to achieve SRP's water conservation and forest health goals. This intern position assists in the development and analysis of and reporting for water conservation and forest health projects. The position tasks include helping to administer new programs, conducting research, and analyzing data to understand and communicate water conservation and forest health project benefits. The position requires the ability to (1) prioritize multiple tasks and communicate progress on assigned tasks; (2) constructively contribute to a collaborative environment; (3) develop strong relationships both internally and externally; and (4) research, problem solve, critically think, and communicate results verbally and in writing. The student intern will work daily scheduled hours based on the department’s needs, with a minimum requirement of 15 hours and up to 40 hours per week maximum.

Requirements

  • Requires a minimum of 2 years of work experience.
  • Completion of at least 60 credit hours towards a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in sustainability, natural resource management, environmental science, water resource management, forestry, public administration, economics, data analytics, or a related field from an accredited educational institution.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Excellent organizational and project coordination skills.
  • Ability to work independently with high self‐initiative in carrying out job responsibilities.
  • Knowledge and ability to use required resources (personal computer, calculator, office/audio visual equipment, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred completion of a Bachelor's Degree and enrolled in a Master's Degree in sustainability, natural resource management, environmental science, water resource management, forestry, public administration, economics, data analytics, or a related field from an accredited educational institution.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Water and Forest Sustainability team and third parties to assist with the development and review of water conservation and forest health projects.
  • Develop working relationships with internal business units and customers to promote SRP goals and objectives.
  • Participate in the development of strategies and materials to solicit customer and partner support for initiatives and projects.
  • Present to SRP's internal business units.
  • Assist with the preparation and editing of customer reports, project briefs, and presentations.
  • Monitor and analyze trends, regulatory actions, and other activities affecting sustainability or environmental markets.
  • Conduct research on potential future water conservation and forest health projects.
  • Must thrive in a collaborative environment comprised of internal and external stakeholders and exhibit appropriate professional deference to SRP decisionmakers.
