About The Position

The Program Assistant is responsible for providing essential administrative and management support for the Health Scholars Academy program operations. The Health Scholars Program runs from June 15, 2026 to July 17, 2026. This role involves supporting curriculum planning, preparing and implementing social-emotional learning activities, maintaining a positive classroom environment, assisting students with research projects, leading teambuilding activities, and managing supplies and equipment. The intern will also be responsible for documenting program activities through photography and media, maintaining professional relationships with students and team members, and ensuring adherence to lab safety guidelines. This job description is a summary and duties may change.

Requirements

  • Must be a current student pursuing an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree.
  • Pursuing a STEM or health focused major.
  • This position requires enrollment in a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s).
  • One year work experience.
  • Experience working with rural or urban populations.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of work experience (stronger consideration in STEM/health).
  • Interest in healthcare.
  • Experience working with youth, school, or community programs.

Responsibilities

  • Attend curriculum and plan sessions with the Health Exploration team.
  • Planning, preparing, and implementing curriculum related to social emotional learning through teambuilders and self care sessions.
  • Maintain an organized and fun classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Assist students in the development of research projects: grammar, connection to the curriculum, inter group communication, other.
  • Lead teambuilding activities to begin the day.
  • Assist with operational efforts and works with teachers as needed.
  • Prepare supplies and equipment during the day, communicating with the instructors and staff as needed.
  • Deliver any module, classroom, ACT, and general supplies/equipment as needed from the storage closet at the start, during, and at the end of the day.
  • Take pictures and media related content of programming as needed by the team.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with students.
  • Maintain open communication and mentorship with students.
  • Maintain a professional and cordial relationship with your fellow team members.
  • Recognize and work through conflicts in caring ways, invites discussion on differences, and arranges for a third party to assist, if necessary.
  • Ensure lab safety guidelines are adhered to in the classroom.
