College Intern - Data Center Operations

About The Position

SRP is seeking a motivated College Intern to gain hands-on experience supporting IT operations in a collaborative, mission-driven environment. In this role, interns will monitor IT systems for software and hardware communication issues, assist internal employees with technical support inquiries, and help troubleshoot and resolve technology-related problems. The intern will provide exceptional customer service, perform problem-solving over the phone, and escalate issues as needed while working alongside experienced professionals. This opportunity allows students to apply classroom learning to real-world challenges, develop technical and professional skills, and gain valuable exposure to SRP's technology operations, culture, and commitment to innovation and service excellence.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
  • Actively enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credit hours that are college level (100) or above over the course of a regular semester and must be working towards a degree or certificate from an accredited college or university.
  • Must live and work in Arizona.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • College level coursework (100 or higher) from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • Familiarity with critical thinking and problem solving.
  • Familiarity with MS365 (Teams, Excel, Word), Outlook.
  • Familiarity with Windows Operating System.
  • Familiarity with Internet Explorer, to include understanding configuration and properties.
  • Familiarity with Networking, to include general knowledge of user accounts and login, FTP, dial-up/VPN, and Intranet vs. Internet.
  • Familiarity with Desktop hardware, including the ability to problem-solve hardware component issues.
  • Familiarity with Laptop hardware, including wireless.
  • Familiarity with Batch processing.
  • Knowledge such as accounting, general administrative principles, communications, marketing, personnel, finance, training, business and other non-scientific fields.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor IT systems to detect error messages that signal malfunctions in communications of software and/or hardware and respond appropriately per documented procedures.
  • Provide phone assistance to internal SRP clients with varying degrees of technical knowledge.
  • Provide excellent customer service, demonstrating patience while effectively dealing with client problems.
  • Perform problem-solving over the phone and determine appropriate course of problem escalation as required.
