About The Position

Abilene Christian University (ACU), affiliated with the Church of Christ, is seeking a full-time, non-tenure-track college faculty member for the Department of Bible, Missions, and Ministry, beginning January 2027. The position emphasizes teaching upper-level ministry courses, particularly in Youth and Family Ministry, as well as general education survey courses in Bible and/or Ministry. Responsibilities include mentoring undergraduate students, maintaining professional expertise through development, and serving on various university committees. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellence in classroom teaching and the ability to connect with a diverse student body with varying levels of familiarity with the Bible and Christian faith. Requirements

  • Experience in Youth and Family ministry.
  • An MDiv, MACM, or similar degree in religious studies.
  • Professing Christian.
  • Active, faithful member of a congregation of the Churches of Christ.
  • Willingness to support the Christian mission and purpose of the university.
  • Ability to relate to a multi-ethnic student body with wide-ranging familiarity with the Bible and the Christian faith.

Nice To Haves

  • Terminal degree (e.g., DMin, ThD, EdD, PhD).
  • Experience in multiple types of church ministry.
  • Scholarly research agenda, evidenced by presentations and publications.
  • Ability to teach in Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Teach upper-level ministry courses, with an emphasis on Youth and Family Ministry.
  • Teach general education survey courses in Bible and/or Ministry.
  • Mentor undergraduate students.
