About The Position

Young Life is seeking a College Director for its NYU Ministry. This role is responsible for leading and executing Young Life's mission and values on the NYU campus, focusing on spiritual development, leadership development, resource development, direct ministry, and ministry support. The position requires a commitment to Young Life's Statement of Faith and adherence to its policies. The College Director will work to reach and disciple college students, build and equip ministry teams, develop resources, and ensure the sustainability and growth of the ministry. Key responsibilities include casting vision, recruiting and developing staff and volunteers, managing finances and fundraising, overseeing direct ministry activities (contact work, club, Campaigners, camp), and maintaining strategic ministry plans. The role also involves collaboration with committees, donors, and other Young Life staff, as well as participation in required training and potential special assignments.

Requirements

  • College degree required.
  • Must profess a belief in Jesus Christ as personal Savior and Lord.
  • Must subscribe to the statements and policies required of all Young Life staff, including the Young Life Statement of Faith.
  • Must be ready, willing, and able to fulfill ministry functions.
  • Must refrain from conduct and statements that detract from the biblical standards taught and supported by Young Life.
  • Must abide by all policies and practices of Young Life.
  • Ability to handle extreme conditions associated with Young Life camp assignments and cross-cultural mission trips.

Responsibilities

  • Spiritual Development: Lead individuals and the area in spiritual development and prayer, ensuring ministry is conducted with dependence on prayer and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Commit to understanding God’s Word and practicing spiritual disciplines.
  • Leadership Development: Cast vision for campus ministry, recruit, mobilize, and retain staff and volunteers. Develop, supervise, and evaluate staff. Recruit, hire, and place staff, leadership teams, and committee members that reflect the campus community.
  • Resource Development: Help recruit, encourage, and sustain a local committee for prayer, mentoring, and fundraising. Develop and implement a fundraising strategy, ensure financial partners are pursued, and maintain major donor relationships.
  • Direct Ministry: Utilize Young Life College methods for relational evangelism. Model and ensure leaders engage in contact work, lead club meetings and small groups, and help students grow in their faith. Create opportunities for students to grow and serve through service/mission trips and other programs.
  • Ministry Support: Set a yearly strategic ministry plan. Maintain confidential systems for recording funds, expenditures, and donor databases. Provide clear communication to stakeholders. Maintain professional integrity in conduct, appearance, time management, and administrative operations.
  • Training: Participate in required training, including Area Director School, TDS training, All Staff Conference, and Annual Young Life College Summit. Pursue continuing educational opportunities.
