About The Position

Young Life is seeking a College Director for NYU. This role is responsible for leading and executing ministry functions including spiritual development, leadership development, resource development, direct ministry, and ministry support. The College Director will cast vision, recruit and develop staff and volunteers, manage fundraising efforts, and ensure the effective proclamation and discipleship of the Gospel on campus. This position requires a commitment to Young Life's Statement of Faith and its mission to introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ and help them grow in their faith. The role involves working in various environments, including potential extreme conditions during camp assignments and cross-cultural mission trips.

Requirements

  • Must be currently on Young Life staff (internal application process applies).
  • Must sign a Statement of Faith.
  • Must profess a belief in Jesus Christ as personal Savior and Lord.
  • Must subscribe to the statements and policies required of all Young Life staff.
  • Must be ready, willing, and able to fulfill ministry functions.
  • Must refrain from conduct and statements that detract from Young Life's biblical standards.
  • Must abide by all policies and practices of Young Life.
  • College degree required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee spiritual development within the area, including prayer, spiritual disciplines, fellowship, and church relationships.
  • Cast vision for campus ministry and maintain healthy ministry teams by recruiting, mobilizing, and retaining staff and volunteers.
  • Recruit, hire, and place staff, leadership teams, and committee members.
  • Develop, supervise, and evaluate staff, providing necessary resources and experiences.
  • Recommend quality summer staff, summer interns, and adult guests.
  • Ensure excellent contact work, club, small group ministry, camping, and service opportunities are modeled.
  • Lead regular gatherings to cast vision, train, and empower staff, leaders, and committee.
  • Help recruit, encourage, and sustain a local committee for prayer, mentoring, and fundraising.
  • Develop and implement a fundraising strategy with the committee.
  • Ensure a TDS team is pursuing and maintaining financial partners.
  • Ensure a surplus of funds is available for ministry sustainability and growth.
  • Maintain major donor relationships through regular communication and engagement.
  • Utilize proven Young Life College methods for relational evangelism on campus.
  • Model and ensure staff, adult, and student leaders are engaging in contact work, leading club meetings and small groups, and helping students grow in their faith.
  • Utilize Young Life camps and programs for outreach and discipleship.
  • Observe and evaluate each ministry annually.
  • Create opportunities for students to grow and serve through local and international service/mission trips.
  • Identify, recruit, and place college students to serve as leaders in various Young Life ministries.
  • Be available to serve on assignment two out of every three years as directed by the regional director or divisional office.
  • Set a yearly strategic ministry plan and initiatives and review them regularly.
  • Maintain confidential systems for recording use of funds, expenditures, budget, and databases of students and donors.
  • Provide clear, prompt, and professional communication to key stakeholders.
  • Maintain professional integrity in conduct, appearance, time management, and administrative operations.
  • Accept special assignments, lead regional events, and serve as a learning resource.
