The College Core at New York University invites applications for Lecturer-rank visiting appointments beginning September 1, 2027, pending administrative and budgetary approval. The appointments are for recent NYU doctoral alumni with strong teaching records; eligibility is limited to NYU graduates who received their degree within three years of the appointment. These are full-time, non-tenure-track, one-year appointments in either the Foundations of Scientific Inquiry or Foundations of Contemporary Culture components of the Core. Subject to good performance and the College’s teaching needs, appointments may be renewed for up to two additional years. Incumbents may serve for no more than three years in this rank combined across all schools of the University. The primary instructional responsibility is to lead three sections of Complexities seminars per term, or the equivalent. Other duties will be assigned, with a one-course relief granted in recognition of these activities. Selected individuals may not engage in employment outside the College Core Curriculum. The annual salary is $60,000. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until the positions are filled; applications submitted before November 1, 2026, receive best consideration. Successful applicants must have demonstrated effectiveness as college-level teachers and completed their dissertation defense by August 1, 2027.
