About The Position

CAMBA is a community organization dedicated to building an inclusive New York City by providing comprehensive resources and support through over 180 integrated programs in Education & Youth Development, Family Support, Job Training & Employment Support Services, Health, Housing, and Legal Services. We serve approximately 73,000 individuals and families annually, with a significant portion being immigrants, refugees, and families living in poverty. CAMBA partners with SUNY Buffalo State and SUNY Delhi to offer college credit-bearing classes and wraparound support to transfer school students at various high school locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Education, Counseling, Social Work or a related field.
  • Two (2) years applicable experience working with youth.
  • Good written & verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Computer literacy in other Microsoft Office Suite products.

Responsibilities

  • Track student attendance and reach out to absent students daily via phone calls, letters, or home visits.
  • Counsel students regularly through meetings, telephone, or home visits.
  • Work with students to overcome barriers to their goals and assist them in self-advocacy.
  • Create and update post-secondary work plans for enrolled students.
  • Recommend and implement strategies to enhance student engagement and participation.
  • Enter all required data into CAMBA’s online internal database system, Client Track.
  • Create narrative case notes regarding student progress at each point of contact using Client Track.
  • Assist students in completing CAMBA intake applications and forms.
  • Maintain professional relationships with clients while ensuring confidentiality.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including school administration, students, funders, parents, and community organizations.
  • Synthesize and distribute pertinent college access information.
  • Provide guidance on the college process, including admissions, FAFSA applications, enrollment, registration, matriculation, and financial aid filing.
  • Plan and organize program activities to meet contract goals and performance targets.
  • Assist students in achieving their goals by identifying and connecting them with community resources and making referrals.
  • Communicate effectively with students, peers, supervisors, and funders.
  • Monitor students’ progress weekly.
  • Review all documentation related to students’ progress for accuracy, completeness, and clarity.
  • Participate in administrative and staff meetings.
  • Provide required information for various reports to CAMBA management and funders.
  • Prepare marketing materials for the program.
  • Facilitate the SUNY Buffalo State Mastering the Academic Environment class and the Learning Community Program class.
  • Assist the Assistant Program Manager with creating curriculum for two SUNY Buffalo State classes.
  • Support parents through the college enrollment and financial aid application process and provide resources for them to support students’ coursework.
  • Sit in on English classes certified as Buffalo State college credit bearing, as well as virtual classes through SUNY Delhi.
  • Accompany students on field trips to various colleges, including SUNY Buffalo State and SUNY Delhi.
  • Support students in understanding course material, completing assignments, and managing their time effectively.
