The College and Career Specialist will lead campus efforts in creating a pervasive college and career-going culture within the school and community. This role involves identifying and utilizing research-based strategies and programs to cultivate college and career readiness for all students, with a particular focus on students from low-income backgrounds and those who are the first in their family to attend college. The specialist will identify tools, provide resources, and structure career exploration, linking academic success to postsecondary preparation. Collaboration with teachers, counselors, and other departments is crucial to ensure students receive necessary support for career readiness, including those needing college coursework. This position will also involve communicating and/or providing training to campus personnel on college and career readiness initiatives, establishing a college and career center, and building partnerships with college and career/technical training programs to facilitate smooth postsecondary transitions for students and parents. Data collection for program evaluation, monitoring state and federal policies, and providing feedback for the Campus Improvement Plan are also key responsibilities. The specialist will coordinate dual credit and Advanced Placement programs, implement "Generation Texas" week, and work with various academic leaders to integrate a career focus into all courses. Facilitating college testing and diagnostics, contributing to the campus website's College & Career Readiness page, and attending district-level team meetings are also part of the role. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.
