About The Position

Buckner Children and Family Services is seeking a College and Career Coordinator to join our Family Hope Center team in Dallas, TX. This role is strategic, providing support for the College and Career Program to ensure alignment with Buckner’s mission, vision, and values. The coordinator will participate in developing and implementing plans to meet program goals and objectives, and serve as a liaison to institutions of higher learning, community collaborators, and businesses. This is a full-time, onsite position.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in education, human services, business, or other related field.
  • Minimum 2 years prior related experience working with children and families required.
  • Prior related experience in a similar field required.
  • Proficient ability to speak, read, and write English professionally.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and deliver curriculum-based training.
  • Knowledge of and ability to implement consistent classroom management techniques.
  • Working knowledge of budgetary management and development of policies and procedures required.
  • Willingness to take CPR, First Aid, and specialized activity training.
  • Ability to drive assigned vehicle(s) or personal vehicle, with appropriate state license, following all laws applicable; must provide proof of liability insurance and must be eligible to be insured under Buckner’s insurance policy. Must be age 21 or older to drive on behalf of Buckner.
  • Ability to use up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force continuously to move objects and/or people.
  • Ability to walk, stand, and sit, sometimes for prolonged periods of time.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with FHC Directors/Managers and Teen Coordinators to design, develop, and support the implementation of a holistic College and Career program.
  • Develop a College and Career curriculum with program components, best practices, tools, and resources to address youth development in areas such as job and life skills; career exploration and requirements; college exploration and requirements; leadership and communication skills, character development, goal setting, and educational success. Ensure the curriculum is culturally competent for youth and collaborates with Program Development & Design for compliance with Buckner standards.
  • Provide support for local Family Hope Centers to meet strategic goals and processes, ensuring best practices, continuity, and alignment with grant requirements for the College and Career program. Develop and implement program structure; analyze program needs and assist in program projects to strengthen and grow the program locally.
  • Manage and coordinate reporting for College & Career sites, ensuring timely updates, compliance, and availability of requested program reports.
  • Work alongside Teen Coordinators to implement the College and Career program at their site, providing ongoing training and support to maintain program quality and compliance.
  • Lead data collection and data measurement. In collaboration with Program Development & Design, develop a tool to monitor and track the progress of enrolled College and Career youth.
  • Collaborate with local businesses and organizations to identify opportunities for youth internships and career exploration.
  • Establish college collaborations and coordinate college seminars/workshops, college tours; identify potential financial aid and scholarship opportunities for participants.
  • Attend and participate in various community outreach and school events, parent conferences, and other approved events as needed.
  • Develop and implement systems for family engagement in the College and Career program. Support Teen Coordinators in engaging parents, providing parent information sessions, and coordinating regular events at the FHC, including youth leadership events, apprenticeships, and community service projects.
  • Collaborate with Teen Coordinators to develop opportunities and establish relationships for youth to prepare for aptitude testing, ACT, and SAT testing.
  • Assist program participants with accessing college and career readiness resources, including program enrollments, travel to and from college and testing sites, and other services.
  • Understand budget requirements and sound financial management following Buckner policy and procedures. Assist in developing and monitoring the College and Career program budget as needed and tracking revenue and expenditures, reporting this information to the appropriate Director.
