The College Aide will work with NYC DOT’s Data Systems & Counts Management team to develop data quality control, standardization, and visualization tools that support the agency’s data-driven analysis of citywide mobility. The role involves creating and modifying workflows for ingesting, cleaning, and validating multimodal traffic counts and third-party location-based mobility data. Where the data permits, the project will identify spatial errors, automate repetitive data-cleaning processes, and map anomalies across citywide networks. The work will inform how NYC DOT validates major data streams, monitors program performance, and supports regional planning models. The student will gain hands-on experience in public-sector data science and transportation planning under the mentorship of data professionals. The role provides experience with Python, SQL, GIS, large-scale mobility datasets, and metropolitan planning data infrastructure, while offering the opportunity to develop a portfolio piece connecting data engineering with urban policy.
