About The Position

Service New Brunswick is seeking bilingual individuals to join Central Collection Services within the Enterprise Services Branch as Collection Officers in Fredericton. Using a variety of computerized systems, the successful candidates will work with department clients to address inquiries on collection policies and procedures in accordance to applicable legislation and negotiate repayment arrangements. This position requires a high level of independence and judgment.

Requirements

  • Graduation from High School, supplemented by a one (1) year related post-secondary diploma, and a minimum of six (6) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and work experience.
  • Written and spoken competence in English and French is required.
  • Ability to use Office Technology, Software and Applications
  • Knowledge of Applicable Legislation and the Department’s Policies and Procedures
  • Knowledge of department’s administrative processes, practices and procedures

Nice To Haves

  • Microsoft Office Suite experience (ex. Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, etc.)
  • Interacting with difficult clients
  • Experience with ICE or other telephony systems and software
  • General knowledge and understanding of legislation and policy regarding collections
  • General understanding and experience with New Brunswick student loan and property tax programs

Responsibilities

  • Addressing inbound client inquiries, including advising of applicable benefit programs and negotiating repayment arrangements in accordance to applicable legislation and collection policy.
  • Performing outbound contacts to inform individuals of their current outstanding government debt.
  • Calculating repayment options.
  • Documenting debtor account collection activity and correspondence
