About The Position

The purpose of the Adjustment Counselor II is to collect assigned delinquent loans to minimize losses to the credit union and to assist members in meeting their financial obligations as well as mentoring the Adjustment Counselor I associates. This position is responsible for the cost management related to the assigned larger and/or more complex book of delinquent loan accounts and the collection of delinquent loans and credit card balances to mitigate loss. A significant degree of creativity, data analysis and problem-solving skills are required in order to effectively solve collection issues. The Adjustment Counselor II is proficient in their collection techniques and tasks and performs a variety of basic and frequently complex loan and credit card collection services, conducts thorough skip tracing, demonstrates teamwork and assists the department with other assignments as requested. This position has limited supervision of work and determines collectability of assigned accounts, performs outbound/inbound communication with members in an attempt to collect the debt, records accurate and thorough collection records and follows-up with members regarding payment arrangements. This role provides recommendations to management regarding repossessions, sale of collateral and charge-offs, maintains delinquent loan files, works cooperatively with team members to accomplish work, performs account adjustments, suggests re-writes and extensions when needed and follows all Credit Union and Departmental policies and procedures.

  • Visually able to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading
  • Ability to sit for extended time periods
  • Sufficient manual skill for operation of PC keyboard and other standard office equipment
  • Ability to travel, including occasional overnight travel
  • Ability to exert minimum amounts of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects
  • 1-3 years of related experience
