About The Position

The Collateral Specialist is responsible for managing the beginning to end lifecycle of loan collateral, property appraisal, and risk monitoring processes. This role ensures bank compliance with federal regulations, internal credit policies, and safety-and-sounded standards through meticulous auditing, report tracking, and cross-departmental coordination.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of loan and collateral documentation preferred
  • Bank experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the beginning to end lifecycle of appraisals, evaluations, and validations - including but not limited to ordering, logging, and distributing reports to key internal personnel.
  • Expertise in interpreting and applying federal banking regulations and internal credit policies to ensure full appraisal compliance.
  • Request, review, and track Borrowing Base Certificates; execute collateral confirmation via mail / verification and perform routine lockbox maintenance.
  • Compile, reconcile, and transmit inventory floorplan reports to third-party vendors, distributing audit results to key internal personnel.
  • Assist in daily audits of new loan originations to identify and log Supervisory and Policy Loan-to-Value (LTV) exceptions.
  • Assist in conducting annual property tax audits and verifications across the loan portfolio.
  • Perform annual reviews of borrower escrow accounts to ensure regulatory and adequate funding; calculate and execute necessary adjustments, coordinate updates to internal key personnel, and issue formal disclosure letters to borrowers.
  • Oversee the beginning to end lifecycle of Real Estate Property Inspections - ordering reports, maintaining accurate records, and routing final documents to key internal personnel.
  • Become knowledgeable and stay current with relevant government regulations and industry best practices.
  • Participate in ongoing education opportunities to maintain competencies and learn about industry trends and developments.
  • Follow all Bank policies and procedures.
  • Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Analyze financial data and support key credit operations and manage specialized tracking tasks such as Coming Due Reports.
